It was a honour to work with Robert Van Pelt in the creation of PEETZ Canada 100th anniversary edition fishing reel. A major accomplishment is an understatement for any company that celebrates a 100 year anniversary. This was much more than just handing over a design to add on to the 100 limited edition reels. We wanted to create something very special in-house at Coastal Carvings; a work of art with new materials and a unique approach to match the Peetz 100 year milestone.
Our approach took over a year and could not have been accomplished without adding new technology to Coastal Carvings: a very high precision CanCam CNC Machine. Coastal Carvings acquired the CNC in order to translate our original design and engrave all of the fine detail at such a tiny scale. Executing the intricate carved designs into the solid brass for the reels was accomplished with a 20 thousands of an inch tool!!! The result of the collaboration is “functional art” worthy of the finest of collections.
We are pleased to reveal the PEETZ Canada “100 year anniversary edition reel”. Each reel is hand built with the same quality PEETZ Canada have always been known for. The reels are then inlayed with the Salmon design that has been engraved into solid brass.
