When your line breaks and you still want to fish, you can use some of these knots to continue on your fishing trip. You can also use some of these knots to attach lines to leaders.
Blood knot

This knot may look complex but it is actually very easy to tie. It is best used tying lines with similar diameter and materials.
1) Hold the lines along side each other with the ends facing opposite directions.
2) Wrap one line around the other four or five times and pass the free end between the two lines.
3) Repeat step two with the other line.
4) Moisten and pull on both lines to snug up the knot.
Double Uni-Knot

This is the best line to use for splicing lines of different diameters and materials.
1) Hold the lines along side each other with the ends facing opposite directions.
2) Form a loop with one of the lines.
3) Pass the free end through the loop and around the other line four to five times and tighten.
4) Repeat steps two and three for the other line.
5) Moisten and pull on both lines to draw the two knots together to snug them up.
Sliding Stop

This knot is mainly used for slip-bobber fishing and for marking your depth.
1) Lay a foot long piece of nylon or Dacron line along side your fishing line.
2) Form a loop in the short line.
3) Pass the free end of the short line through the loop and around the standing line four to five times.
4) Moisten and pull both ends of the short line to snug the knot.
Albright Special

This knot allows you to attach mono to wire or a much heavier mono without a barrel swivel.
1) Double the wire then pass the free end of the mono through the loop
2) Hold the mono alongside the wire and wrap the free end around the wire.
3) Make eight wraps moving towards the loop in the wire.
4) Pass the free end of the mono through the loop
5) Alternate pulling on the free end and standing line to snug up the knot
6) Trim the wire and the mono.
Haywire Twist

This is the best method to connect a single strand wire leader to a hook or lure. Do not use this knot with braided wires.
1) Pass the wire through the eye of the lure or hook and make three loose twists.
2) Make five tight wraps winding the free end of the wire around the standing wire.
3) Make a right angle bend in the free end.
4) Turn the handle of the bend until the excess wire can be broken off.
Tube Knot

This knot is used to make a smooth connection between a fly line and leader.
1) Lay a small plastic drinking straw alongside the end of the fly line.
2) Wrap the leader butt around the fly line, straw and the standing portion of the leader.
3) Make about five turns and wind towards the end of the fly line.
4) Push the butt of the leader back through the straw.
5) Carefully remove the straw from the knots.
6) Moisten the knot and pull on both ends of the leader to snug it.
